We woke from our first night at Ray’s cabin ready to enjoy the unseasonably great weather. We had a great breakfast of waffles, then chatted a bit and discussed possible activities. Scott and Tom decided to go bike riding around the lake, while the rest of the group and Ray’s Realtor Vinny (who came for the day) decided to take a hike to a nearby Electra Peak and site of the former Fire Tower there (which has been dismantled, but left on site). Scott and Tom ate lunch first, the others did not. Scott and Tom took water with them. The others did not.

Scott and Tom’s ride was 12 miles round trip on rocky but beautiful trails halfway around the lake. One ascent was a bit steep, and Scott did kinda fall when he stopped halfway up the hill, but no blood was shed and it was pretty minor.
The other group did not fair so well. They were all hungry, and Ray and Jeff bushwhacked a beeline for the lake house, leaving the woman and children to fend for themselves. Scott and Tom arrived back as Ray and Jeff were mounting a rescue mission in the UTV with more seats, but it’s battery was dead so they took a truck and another UTV. Eventually, they all returned unscathed, but their 2-1/2 hour hike turned into a 5 hour ordeal.

Once again, the evening sky put on another spectacular show for us.

Dinner for the group (most of which were a bit famished and dehydrated) was delicious lasagna, salad, and all the fixings. This will be our second and last night at Ray’s place.
