Our last morning at Ray’s started with beautiful weather, but we knew that the rain was coming. Another great breakfast, goodbyes and thanks all around, and we were on the road again.

Our camper was where we left it. We gave our paltry payment to “Jimmy” the owner, and headed towards home.
It was an 8 hour ride to Pottstown, so Tom decided to break the drive into two roughly equal halves, and that meant a stop near Binghamton, NY. Ray and others had recommended the Adirondack Experience Museum which was right on the way, and a location we would reach right around lunch. We parked in their RV and Bus lot – which was empty despite the museum’s main lot itself being pretty full. We ate lunch, paid the $20 each senior rate, and toured the museum.
This is the place to go if you really, really, care about Adirondack boats, canoes, guide boats, and power boats. As with the entire museum, this was very well done but a bit too detailed for Scott.

The next stop was the art museum. Tom is getting into painting in his retirement; Scott just can’t get into art anywhere. So we pass the entrance doors with two huge signs saying “not an exit.” Scott walks through the exhibit, finds the exit, and finds a nice Adirondack chairs in which to wait for Tom. Scott texts Tom he is by the exit. Tom calls asking where Scott is as he thinks HE is at the exit. Apparently, Tom missed the aforementioned sign while looking at his phone and was on the other side of the building…

Scott enjoyed the beautiful Pullman car “Oriental” that was on display. They had the full background on the car and revealed that, while it was of the sort of car wealthy Adirondack camp owners used, this particular car, built for Austin Corbin, never rode the Adirondack rails.
After seeing many other displays, Scott and Tom were a bit tired of looking at exhibits – and it had started raining. We brought a raincoat and poncho with us, so we felt somewhat smug as we walked to the camper, fired it up, and drove 3 hours to our campsite outside Binghamton.

The campground, Belden Hill is nice but, being on an unshielded hill, was a bit windy for our time here.
Tonight’s sunset was a washout compared to the last few, but you could see for miles from Belden Hill.

Blogging and bed as always.
