A Quiet Day Around the House

Scott took the opportunity with the quiet of the Miller/Lyne resort to sleep late, and we then decided to eat lunch before our sightseeing ride in Rachael’s Grenadier station wagon.  Rachael and James have his-and-hers versions of this new adventure machine that looks a bit like a Land Rover Defender, but is much cooler (and cheaper.)

We rode around much of the Green Mountain National Forest that surrounds their home.  We saw people camping, driving around, and in one case doing something apparently sketchy (could be disposing of a body – who knows.).

The instrumentation is very aircraft-like…
…with a lot of overhead switches.

Rachael describes how she rides her electric mountain bike almost every day it is not snow-covered – the bike has over 3,000 miles on it. When it is snow-covered Rachael skis.  It was clear that Rachael knows and loves the beauty and serenity of the surrounding area.

When we got back to the resort, we heard more fascinating stories – this night from Jame’s sailing coach career about around the world racing and the pitfalls of such follies– after yet another home-cooked meal.  We were sad it was our last night, but we were feeling a bit guilty for having taken so much of their time.
