Our first night/day at the Miller/Lyne resort was great. After breakfast, we worked on replacing the tow bar and investigating the root cause of the problem with the old one. It turns out that the locking portion of the latch pin had been burred over, most likely from being released while under stress. It also turns out that it is a mirror image of the pin in the other bar and simply exchanging the pins between bars would restore full functionality. We proceeded to install the new tow bar anyway and we now have an emergency spare – hopefully the spare will scare away the gremlins to prevent them from making us get a 5th tow bar.

After lunch, we headed out for our first adventure – a bike ride on our ebikes with Rachael on hers. We headed out in Rachael’s serious double-cab 8 foot bed pickup with the three bikes in the back for the very pretty and much-more-old-folks-friendly route that Rachael had planned.
Some of it was on roads that were fairly empty except for leaf peepers and the few non-chill locals annoyed by them (and us.) Some was on local gravel roads. All were pretty easy. A highlight along the way was seeing the Von Trapp Farm and Stores compound (yes, the Von Trapps of Sound of Music fame).

After 10.8 miles – with some serious hills that we mainly used electrons to climb except for Rachael – who did not have a throttle but did have strong legs – we decided to extend the trip to Blueberry Lake for another 7+ miles for a total of over 18 miles .

During this ride, Scott fell only once – in the parking lot of the store that we parked the truck, with not too serious damage.

Then back to the resort for home made pizza.
